Four competitions were competed for last Wednesday with three scratch competitions and a Member/Guest fourball all played for on the one day. Play in the three scratch competitions was off the white tees and good scores were returned in each competition. The Senior Scratch competition, handicaps 0 to 4, was won by Lee McMullan with a gross score of 75 and a similar score won the Junior Scratch competition, handicaps 5 to 10, for John Howard. The Intermediate scratch competition, handicaps 11 to 16, was won by Mark Tobin with a score of 86 gross and the C.S.S. for all three competitions was 75. This is the first venture for Mount Juliet to hold such competitions and might prove in time to be an annual event.
The Member/Guest fourball was won by two Clonmel players with a score of 43 points and they had a shot in hand over their nearest opponents.
Next Sunday sees another “major” down for decision with the J. B. Carr Trophy for men and ladies scheduled to be played for. This competition will carry valuable golfer of the year points for competitors.
