The Member & Guest Day will take place on Sunday 25th Jan 2009. The format will be Fourball beterball Stableford, 3/4 handicap allowance. Event starts at 10am, with a 2 tee start on 1st and 10th tee. Reservations on-line at www.mountjuliet.ie or phone Anne or the Golf Shop on 056 777 3064.

On Sunday the last of the “Summer” competitions were played with a Member/Guest Fourball Betterball down for decision. This competition proved to be a benefit for our near neighbours Callan as the first two places were filled by the Brett family. James J. Brett and Sean Brett just got home from James E. Brett and Gerard Brett by a single shot. The winners scored 46 points which was made up of nines of 24 and 22 points respectively whereas the runners-up had nines of 21 and 24 points. In third place came Stephen Price and his partner Dave Burke from Rush on 44 points who prevailed by virtue of a better back nine holes. The next of the Member/Guest days is on Sunday week 14th October. In the meantime the Lady President’s(Mary Jones) prize will be played for on Thursday 11th October and the last of the Ladies Invitation Days will take place this Wednesday. The timesheets for both the 11th and 14th are open.
With the advent of Winter comes the ever popular Waterford Crystal sponsored Winter Series and this year it kicks off on Tuesday 16th October with a 4 Person Team Event. On Thursday 25th October there is a 3 Person Rumble and then there are Scrambles, Rumbles,Fourballs and Singles right through to the final which will held on Monday 14th April next. The winners of each of the qualifying rounds will receive a Waterford Crystal prize on the day and also qualify for the Grand Final. The cost of each competition is the same as last year, €85 per person, which includes a basket of range balls and a round on the Mount Juliet Championship Putting Green set on over 3 acres. There are also other packages which include breakfast and lunches for similar amounts but these will not be valid until 1st November. These packages are an ideal Christmas Present although it nearly is a sin to be wishing Christmas on us already even though it is a little over ten weeks away.
