All is in ready for next weeks Captains prizes which will be played for on Friday and Saturday of next week and already the timesheet is full for Saturday with the overflow timesheet for Friday filling up rapidly. All that is required is for the weather to be a little kinder than of late.
Last Sunday saw the last of the Member/Guest days for June take place. The competition was a 3 person scramble over 18 holes stroke and there was a large turnout for the day. Another man who is showing good form this year is Dan Kavanagh and he was leader of the winning team of the day. He was ably assisted by Jack Kavanagh and Kevin McCartan and they recorded a fine score of 60.7 when adjusted by their handicap allowance of 4.3 shots. They were a little over a shot clear of their nearest opponents, Tony Carroll, Des Smith and Alan Smith who in turn were almost a shot clear of third place. The winners and the runners-up both scorched around in 65 gross shots, which was 7 under par, with the winners having nines of 33 and 32 shots respectively as against the runners-up 32 and 33 shots for their nines. The handicap allowance then decided the winners with third place on 62.5 shots going to the team of James J. Brett, James E. Brett and Niall Brett.
