Release the Club for Better Golf
A very important part of the golf swing is the ability to release the golf club through the impact zone (pic 1).

This will allow you to generate club head speed resulting in improved ball striking. Many golfers focus too much on keeping the left arm straight or keeping the head down which therefore blocks the releasing action (pic 2).

When learning how to release the club, the feeling is of the hands and arms going ahead of the body during impact resulting in a nicely balanced finish. While on the driving range, a good drill to try is to hit golf balls with your feet close together.
The test is to use a 7 iron and be able to strike the golf ball solid and send it straight while keeping your balance (pic 3).

Once you have done this, it means you have felt the proper release of the hands and arms past the body with the hips rotating in unison.
