Mount Juliet was a family home until 1989 and the Manor House remains one of Ireland’s finest country houses, as well as being Co. Kilkenny’s most acclaimed country Estate. We are proud to maintain traditions and standards that have endured from the glory days of the ‘Big House’ - just as we are proud of the hospitality that has brought us international renown. Mount Juliet’s tradition of hospitality dates back to the 18th Century, when young Somerset Butler and his new bride Juliet, moved into the newly refurbished house, renamed in her honour. Over the years a great many illustrious people have dined, fished and hunted before resting in one of her 32 sumptuous bedrooms, which are named after a select few of our previous guests – The King of Ossory, The Black Earl, Lady Juliana and Fitzwilliam Le Gros.
On the Estate there are 2 properties, the luxurious 32 bedroom Georgian Manor House and the 93 bedroom Hunter's Yard which offers laid-back luxury with a twist.
A stay at Mount Juliet Estate is a truly unique experience. It’s a place to come and be who you want to be, whether that involves fishing, riding, golfing, archery, falconry or the absolute indulgence of our treatment suites.
